Its been approximately a month since the first official B0rG vs WaR scrim,
and a few days until the next one. I had said then that I would make video of
the action. Things never work quite how one thinks they will, especially if
theres a productivity promise involved.
It came. We were there. A bit scatter brained, but there.
There was a fair amount of the expected confusion and slight
fumbles due to excitement or other distraction. A few who
could not make it. or screwed up figuring out timezones.
But enough did show, and we did fight.
Only a few remembered to press their F12  at the beginning
of each match, or any match. Several amusing bits to be
found in each of these that were recorded, but I found
Bondai's demo from spec mode of GoldRush, B0rG as Allies attacking,
WaR Defending as Axis, to have the best continues footage.
To the point that I, obsessing over putting together the
most awesome first B0rG video, had collected approximately
an hour and a half's footage from every possible perspective.
I did cut most of it, eventually. Not to mention I somehow
broke my best video editing program, and have yet to fix all
of my video codecs. (no wmv's for a little while)
So here we are, after nearly a months stalemate fighting
my computer. Three days ago I gave in, and settled down to
doing it all in virtualdub (www.virtualdub.org). An old
program privately developed by an anime fan for editing
and cleaning up Japanese animation avi movies downloaded off
of the net. An excellent and very simply put together program.
To simple.
OH, the repetitive tediousness. o,0
Its done. It's far better then I had thought I could do,
given the primary tool used. It could take, and may yet
receive a future tweak or three. Primarily in the audio
department. (I had to pull all of the original audio out)
I put it on googlevideo, but you should really make the
effort to see the higher res encoded version.
(codec ect included)
Here is a lower resolution version on google:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3737826633852864237&hl=en
Heres the higher quality avi
91.2 MB 7min 2 seconds.
There is no higher res version then these of this video.
I made several mistakes from which I've learned a great deal,
but am not willing to explore further at this moment in time.
mirrors so far.

The 77.6MB wmv version. . (I'm looking for my stashed copy)

Everybody but me for that round since my net died mid Fuel Depot earlier. God knows I watched it enough afterwards though

I think I put in two 8 hour days between saturday and sunday night, another half day early monday morning. I ended up reducing it to individual frames. 500x350pix jpgs at 25 fps. I still have 24 folders totalling 7.3 gig.
joe wrote: all I can say is WOW. Makes me proud. AWESOME vid. I love the way you followed the nade, and I like the way some dropped stuff is outlined, like the medpaks and stuff. Is that done in ET or with the vid editing software?
The nade following is a function of etpro in demo mode which I recorded in. The med and ammo packs are a new thing to me too. The outlines are result of serious over abusing something I found called a wavesharp filter.
EtPro has something no other mod has. /freecam in demo mode

I loved how the motion blur, temperal blur, wavesharp and a strange OldCinema filter all worked together.
One pass at a time.
Thanks  |
